More Power to Women
Today women make the news: talk about the newspapers, it is discussed in professional networks, conferences and follow each other ad hoc publications.
Part of me is happy that finally this issue that few have argued for years it has become public domain. Above all, in my opinion, important to understand that women are absent in Italy, almost entirely, from places of power.
But the other part, that doubt, realizes that there is an instrumental use of the subject. Some companies, especially consulting, which are objectively sexist, because women are virtually absent from their leaders, they ride the issue to gain publicity, to give themselves a patina of political correctness. Other companies, however, have understood the scope of communication and shout to the world their social responsibility. But in many cases is the famous saying: "Do what I say and not as I do."
Mind you, I think in the end what counts is the objective: so far is this new collective consciousness.
But my reading of the proposal is another and I repeat it in different contexts for a long time. The absence of women from power is not just a women's issue, it is especially a problem in the country.
This fact indicates two things, both important: the first known mechanisms of cooptation that are deleterious and which are the mirror of familism in the first instance, but also of the strings, groups and small groups that share power in Italy. Every year the Sun 24 hours conducts a survey on the composition of the Board: Read and understand that not only are women excluded from these contexts, but also many other "different", but other than clubs which share the relevant positions.
There are some people who collect tens of participation in the CDA, a number that only Superman could properly follow.
The second factor is the wastage of skills: women study more, and better than men. I am a "social capital" found that, if excluded from power, is lost to society.
So not only talking about women, but the rules and mechanisms that govern access to power, and thus there is no need for special projects.
So, give us a sound and transparent meritocracy, and the rest we can do it alone.
